About This Coffee:
Procafe is a cooperative established in San Juan del Río Coco, Madriz in 2011, focused on commercializing the coffee production of its members to enhance the income and living standards of coffee-producing families. Today, the cooperative comprises 165 members, including 56 women and 109 men.
The members cultivate a variety of coffee types, such as Marsellesa, Parainema, Caturra, and several hybrids, at altitudes between 800 and 1370 meters above sea level. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are transported to the Procafe dry mill located in Condega, Estelí, where the conditions are ideal for processing.
The mill features patios equipped with mesh screens, ensuring efficient water drainage and ventilation during the drying process. The coffee undergoes sun-drying for approximately 25 days, with a consistent focus on moisture monitoring to achieve the optimal quality.
All Procafe coffee is grown under shade, a practice that not only protects the plants but also safeguards water sources and soil, while contributing positively to biodiversity. Furthermore, this coffee is Regenerative Organic Certified, demonstrating a commitment to adhering to rigorous standards that promote soil health, animal welfare, and social equity.
